Women Shelters Across Ontario to Benefit from $248,200 Grant
MPP Carol Mitchell Announces Two Year Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation

Goderich – On Friday morning, local MPP Carol Mitchell formally announced that a province-wide research project is being launched thanks to a $248,200 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The newly-formed Ontario Shelter Research Committee is now conducting the first comprehensive review of the services provided by 96 shelters across the province for women and children fleeing abusive situations. When completed, the findings will enable a better understanding of the shelters’ roles and contributions within the larger network of community services.

New website provides information on shelter, support, counseling and advocacy


Goderich, ON – The Huron Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services is launching
a brand new website that promises to provide the most up-to-date information on their services, programs,
and upcoming events in an easy to navigate format. The official launch party will take place on Friday,
March 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Goderich Town Library (52 Montreal Street, Goderich). Members of the
media and general public are welcome to attend, and will get an exclusive look at the new website.

Daily necessities top the wish list at the Women’s Shelter of Huron


Goderich, ON – There are some basic needs on the wish list of the staff and residents of the Women’s
Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services of Huron this Christmas. The Centres in Goderich,
Clinton and Exeter are hoping that some simple gifts from the community will help women and their
children have a better holiday and new year.
